HOLE 1 - SWAN PITCH
Red Tee 150Â Yellow Tee 156Â White Tee 156
Opening tee shot requiring an accurate shot to a well protected green. Two bunkers short of the green and a hedge to the back of the green. The green itself is a bit tricky sloping from left to right and there is not a straight putt on it. Happily walk off with a par and move on.
HOLE 2 - Y DDERW
Red Tee 295Â Yellow Tee 300Â White Tee 305
A real risk and reward par 4. Drivable green for the long hitters with the prevailing wind behind. Wayward shots will find mature trees and long rough. Don’t go too long as there is a steep runoff at the back of the green
HOLE 3 - WEIR
Red Tee 482Â Yellow Tee 490Â White Tee 525
Dogleg left par 5 requiring an accurate drive to a narrow tree lined fairway. Bigger hitters will struggle to get to the green for two. Disrespect this par 5 at your peril. Approach shot will fire into the largest green on the course over 40yds long leaving some monster puts if you misjudge your approach.
HOLE 4 - TARRELL
Red Tee 292Â Yellow Tee 317Â White Tee 322
Short but difficult par 4. Slight dogleg to the right with huge trees down the right hand side preventing cutting of the corner. Approach shot is to a difficult green which runs off the the left and right.
HOLE 5 - NEWTON
Red Tee 146Â Yellow Tee 136Â White Tee 146
A short but tricky par 3. Small undulating green protected by a deep bunker and a bank to the left. Bail out right and try to get up and down for par, or go for it and risk going in the bunker.
HOLE 6 - MEADOW
Red Tee 375Â Yellow Tee 400Â White Tee 409
Simple looking par 4, but don’t be lulled into a false sense of security this can be a difficult hole with bunkers and trees waiting for a wayward tee shot. The green is protected by a bunker front left and slopes away towards the back right of the green.
HOLE 7 - USK
Red Tee 353Â Yellow Tee 376Â White Tee 386
Sweeping round to the right this 386yd par 4 plays longer than its yardage with the prevailing wind right into your face. The drive is essential to scoring on this hole with the River Usk on the right and long rough on the left waiting to catch wayward drives. Undulating green providing some interesting putts
HOLE 8 - CRATER
Red Tee 312Â Yellow Tee 368Â White Tee 379
Described by many as the best golf hole in Powys we’ll let you decide. Split fairway and a tiny well protected green. Again playing into the prevailing wind a good drive is essential to scoring well. Trees protect both sides of the fairway and the river Usk will catch a big slice. The tiny green is nestled in a crater with bunkers front, left and right waiting to catch an errant shot. Par here is a fine score indeed.
HOLE 9 - PEN Y FAN
Red Tee 428Â Yellow Tee 418Â White Tee 428
Last hole and the longest par 4 on the course although the wind is generally slightly helping. A dogleg to the right with mature trees lining the fairway. Approach shots are to a well protected green with 4 bunkers just in front of the clubhouse. Keep your nerve whilst putting in front of the gallery on the patio.
